A simple question, “Where would you like to go to celebrate our anniversary?” sparked the latest expedition for the club. May 2004 saw a group of members and their families jetting of to the south Sinai Peninsula and the resort of Sharm El Sheikh in the Red Sea Egypt. Our accommodation was decided on recommendation of other members of the club who had visited the resort the year before. Cyril Hucker (AD & ACI) the expedition leader, it was his 30th Wedding anniversary, started the organisation for this in early February when he got a list of members who would like to come and celebrate this anniversary with him. This was the first step towards what would turn out to be another cracking club trip that has taken place over the past few years. So together with myself we started to make our plans. Cyril was to do all the hard work, his task was to organise the flights and accommodation, so off to the nearest travel agent to see if we could get the dates we required. I myself sat down at home and logged into the World Wide Web to see what diving operators were available and what they had to offer. Firing off a few questionnaires to each, then sit back and see what was the best, maybe not the cheapest, deal that would suit our needs, from the replies received the choice fell to Dive Africa as our dive operator. A few more emails between us and everything was set. Mean while Cyril had provisionally booked the hotel and flights through a local travel agent so all we had to do was save the pennies and wait a few months for our time of departure. The only thing that was not done together was getting to Gatwick Airport. This could be a story all of its own.
